LONDON: A leading Karachi businessman has refused to cooperate with the Scotland Yard inquiry into the money-laundering investigation.
Documents seen by this correspondent show that Dr Arshad Vohra, nominee for the post of deputy mayor Karachi, was contacted by detectives at the Scotland Yard investigating the money-laundering case but Vohra has refused to help the police in its investigation, refusing to travel to London for an interview. Scotland Yard wrote to Vohra and told him that the detectives want to interview him in relation to the money laundering case under the proceeds of crime act 2002.
Shahzeb Khanzada revealed that Dr Vohra has been contacted at least six times through phone calls and emails by the police in around a year. Dr Vohra has been a regular visitor of the UK for around 30 years, making visits every now and then, but for more than one year he has stayed away from London because of the investigation.
